Customer Spotlight – Global Crafts
Gifts with Humanity is a brand under Global Crafts which works directly with artisans in developing countries by creating a means to earn income using fair trade practices. Tiffany Kaplan acquired the company in 2018 and relocated its operations from Florida to Ohio when the pandemic hit which allowed her to be closer to the warehouse and effectively monitor any potential issues that could occur with products or deliveries.
The +/-7,000 SF warehouse is headquartered in Warrensville Heights and houses a vast inventory of unique products made by artisans from all over the world including Kenya, Haiti, and Mumbai. Products range from jewelry, home décor, hand-carved tableware, holiday ornaments, and even games. The attention to detail on each piece is astounding and each item is one of a kind.
While in Florida, Tiffany was involved in a volunteer capacity with Vocational Guidance Services (VGS), an Ohio-based nonprofit dedicated to providing pathways for individuals with disabilities to engage in the community, achieve independence, and attain employment. She has continued her work with the organization after relocating to Ohio and currently has a team in place which includes 4 women and a job coach who work on shipping, receiving, and quality control. Along with an interest in giving back locally, Tiffany is committed to maintaining the company’s existing relationships with the artisans they work with and to help them continue to evolve.
On her experience working with Weston: “Weston takes the time to understand my business and build a relationship. My business works with village artisans around the world and I’m often on the road and sometimes in remote areas – I have complete confidence that Weston is there if something comes up and has consistently come through for my team in emergencies, averting any loss of property. This gives me complete comfort to be out doing what I need to do.”
