Mike Logsdon co-ordinates the program. Mr. Logsdon has 30 years of experience of doing so. He is in his 10th year with Weston and prior to that, he was with University School in Cleveland managing their facilities for over 20 years. In addition, Mr. Logsdon is the Secretary of the Superintendents & Engineers Committee of Greater Cleveland Building Owners & Managers Association. Mr. Logsdon has the experience, the know-how and the creativity that it takes to operate this department so that our customers can see to their own business requirements.

Many of our tenants have reported how pleased they are with the in-house support offered by Assistant Project Manager Brian Caves. Brian has worked at Weston all through his college years, and is now full-time as our CAD specialist and in-house space planner. Brian is the quintessential “multitask” connoisseur. All of Weston’s departments, including leasing, construction, and property management look to Brian for accurate drawings, concise space measurements, and on-site construction management. Brian is just as likely to be found meeting with a tenant to lay out offices in a new space as he is meeting with an architect ironing out obstacles to build the space. Brian is furthering his education through the BOMA program.

 

Example

Through the year, the Facilities Department is called upon to assist with continuing building management challenges. Weston’s facilities staff understands building systems, can respond to building emergencies of any sort, and first and foremost, is prepared to assist our tenants. In addition, safety is our highest priority. Our Facilities Team is an important resource for Property Managers and the Customer Service Department in the company-wide goal of a safe working environment. Safety seminars, organized to address OSHA mandated issues, are held monthly for property managers and maintenance personnel. We get together to discuss our current issues. Each of our Cleveland field personnel is certified in CPR and first aid.
Our tenants appreciate the depth of resources and knowledge base available in our Facilities Department.

 

Facilities Management

 

The Facilities Management department is an important component in keeping the buildings operating smoothly and in a safe manner. Weston’s Facilities Team takes a proactive approach in assessing the condition of the properties in Weston’s existing portfolio as well as participating in the due-diligence mission of providing accurate building condition reports for new acquisitions.
Weston relies on our Facilities Department to assess the condition of each facility every spring, when the Property Manager and the Facilities Manager together survey each property with an eye to improvement. These annual assessments are major contributors to Weston’s long-term capital planning. But it doesn’t stop here. Each fall, as the trees drop their leaves, Weston’s Facilities Team is up-top to inspect every section of roof. This two-month inspection program results in a thorough inspection of all 420 roofs in the Weston portfolio. Minor repairs are handled by Weston’s customer service staff; major problems are the responsibility of the region’s best roofing contractors. Capital planning involving the replacement of roofs evolves from these inspections.
