Mr. Asher is President of Weston Acquisitions Group, a group formed in part by Mr. Asher himself. His focus is locating real estate to acquire for Weston’s Real Estate Fund, currently being managed by his brother, Edward Asher. The goal of the acquisitions group is to acquire $60 million in real estate within the Cleveland area, as well as the other Midwest and Southeast areas, for fiscal year 2006. Within the first three months of the formation of the acquisitions group, Mr. Asher has acquired 15 million in new property.

 

Mr. Asher most recently operated as President of Weston for 7 years prior to his new role in the Acquisitions Group. In addition to day-to-day operational responsibilities he directed Weston’s portfolio management and acquisition functions. In his seven years, Mr. Asher grew the company to a $200 million real estate empire of 10,000,000 square feet, 75 individual projects, holdings in 9 states across the country, 450 tenants, and 43 employees. Educated at Xavier University; graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Finance.

Mr. Asher was appointed President in 2006 in which he is undertaking efforts to grow Weston and develop programs to enhance and promote its significant achievements. As President Mr. Asher is responsible for the overall revenue and profit performance of this national real estate company with over 400 tenants in 9 states in 10 million square feet of industrial and retail space. Weston has a history of innovation and entrepreneurship and Mr. Asher facilitates these qualities. Mr. Asher also serves on the company’s Executive Management Committee which has given him unique insight and rare intuition into the inner workings of Weston, and he is positioned himself to take the company into the future.

 

Mr. Asher functioned as Vice-President for 5 years prior to his presidency. He fostered Weston’s history of innovation and entrepreneurship while spearheading corporate strategic planning and the overall leadership of the sales department with a focus acquisitions as well. James successfully increase occupancy from 82% in 2003 to 94% in 2006. He dealt with such top name clients as Erico, Asus, Jo-Ann Fabrics, etc. James Asher began his career with Weston Inc. at age 13 by sweeping floors in some of the older industrial buildings owned by the firm at that time. His ground-up training began in the Maintenance Department; from there he managed properties both in Cleveland and in Louisville where the company has substantial holdings, leased thousands of square feet of Weston’s portfolio, increased the company’s exposure as he managed the marketing department, and became head of operations with five departments reporting to him.

Ed Asher is President of the newly formed Joint Venture Equity Partner. The strategy of this endeavor is to ally ourselves with a joint venture equity partner with similar goals that is willing to invest in our business model.

Mr. Asher was the first of the brothers to begin his tenure at Weston in 1987. Mr. Asher has held a variety of positions at progressive levels of responsibility in acquisitions, development, dispositions, property management, financing, and leasing.

Mr. Asher was president of Guardian Title from 2001 until 2005. He ran one of the largest independent title agencies in Ohio during record years for the title industry. He is recent past president of Guardian National Title Insurance Company, a small domestic title insurance underwriter that writes for over 50 agents around Ohio. He is also an active participant and Board member of several influential organizations: The City Club of Cleveland, The Salvation Army, The American Task Force for Lebanon, and The Aitaneet Foundation.
